The Taurus Gold Cloth is the Cloth of the Saint Aldebaran in Saint Seiya, Soul of Gold (where it becomes a God Cloth), and Saint Seiya: Episode G, Hasgard and Teneo in Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas, Ox in Saint Seiya: Next Dimension, and Harbinger in Saint Seiya: Omega. It is of the highest class of the Cloths that Athena’s Saints wield, the Gold Cloths.
The Taurus constellation was based on the form Zeus took when he abducted Europa. Having taken the form of a bull, and when Europa tried to ride it, he took her to Crete, making her the queen and giving her several gifts. He then made the constellation in the sky.
Aldebaran trained to be a Saint in Brazil, years before the birth of the modern Athena, by an unknown master. The Cloth was likely kept in Sanctuary until a Saint worthy of wearing it was found. Aldebaran becomes the first Gold Saint to test the Bronzes during their Sanctuary assault, becoming convinced to let them pass after he loses his Cloth’s horn. Swearing an oath to Athena, he remains as her guardian during the start of the Poseidon Arc. Despite appearing to die to Siren Sorrento, he manages to escape death thanks to Athena. Despite this stroke of luck, Aldebaran dies during a battle with a Specter during the Hades Arc, having dealt a fatal blow to Deep Niobe in the process. He returns to join his power with the rest of the Gold Saints, dying in the process.
Aldebaran was the guardian of the House of the Bull during the events of Saint Seiya: Episode G. With the House of the Ram abandoned, his House would be the first to be attacked by the Titans, if not for Leo Aiolia’s reckless first actions. Aldebaran goes with Aiolia on his quest to have his Cloth repaired, to the land of Jamir.
Lost Canvas/Next Dimension : Previous War
Hasgard was the Guardian of the House of the Bull of Sanctuary in The Lost Canvas, and died protecting his fellow Saints while fighting Dullahan Cube. Despite this, he put up several impressive fights that lead one of his students, Teneo, to take up the mantel of Taurus after the events of the series. Ox was the Guardian of the House of the Taurus of Sanctuary in Next Dimension, and tried disciplining the Saints who tried to attack Hades’ reincarnation without orders. With no Athena in sight, he is concerned for the coming Holy War. When the Holy Warcame, he was the first Gold Saint to die. He had to fight former Crateris Silver Saint, now Garuda Specter, a Judge, Suikyo. He managed to do some damage to Suikyo, and crack his Surplice, but died to a technique he had as a Saint, not as a Specter.
Harbinger was chosen by Capricorn Ionia and accepted by Mars as the Taurus Gold Saint after a lifetime of fighting. Harbinger proved to be strong, even at a young age, and was always pushing himself to grow, reveling in the sound of his enemy’s bones cracking, and to break his opponent’s heart by taking all hope from them. Already having defeated Saints, he joined Marswhen he realized he had no chance of defeating him. Proving to be a mighty Gold Saint, he defeated and sent the other Bronze Saints to the other Houses, leaving Pegasus Kouga to fight him. Unwilling to give up, Kouga kept pushing until Harbinger let him past, impressed by Kouga. Harbinger wanted Kouga to grow so that he could fight the Bronze Saint once again, and enjoy breaking him. Later on, he went to fight alongside Aries Kiki, not really caring who wins as long as he gets his fight.
